Located in the outer eastern suburb of Mooroolbark, on a busy road & just a few minutes walk from the main drag, this multi-unit development is situated 31kms east of Melbourne’s CBD.
Testament to the extent of Victoria’s urban sprawl, this vast block an hour from Melbourne which was previously home to just one family, will now be reconfigured to suit ten!
Zoned within Yarra Ranges major activity centre, this medium density project involved subdividing a huge 1721m2 allotment into multiple smaller lots, each comprising a double storey, 2–3-bedroom townhouse with 2 bathrooms, lock-up garage, alfresco deck & garden linked to an open plan living space.
This project proved to be one of our most arduous due to Council & objector concerns over development density, retention of native trees & increased local traffic. Through a lengthy negotiations process, we were able to achieve a successful outcome for our client wholly thanks to the co-ordinated & collective effort of our consultant team.
A design style more commonly seen in inner suburban Melbourne, we sought to create highly modern & trendy compact townhomes to appeal to hip downsizers & young families looking to live in & enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Yarra Ranges.
Externally, the modern design incorporates simple geometry, sharp angled roofs, generous window sizes & clean lines accentuated through weathertex cladding, boxy forms & rendered finishes.
Inside, a restrained, minimal & modern palette including whites contrasting sharply against black, natural timber tones for the flooring & joinery paired with gentle greys in the bath areas & bedrooms with a few quirky fixtures & fittings throughout just for fun.
